Whats a good sugar cookie recipe and easy frosting for little kids?

I want to make cookies with my neicesWhats a good sugar cookie recipe and easy frosting for little kids?
BLUE RIBBON FROSTED SUGAR COOKIES

2 c. granulated sugar

1/2 c. white Crisco

1/2 c. real butter

3 lg. eggs

2 tsp. pure vanilla

1 c. sour cream

1 tsp. soda

1 tsp. baking powder

4 1/2 - 5 c. flour for drop, 6 c. flour for rolled out (flour amount depends on size of eggs)

Blend first 3 ingredients. Add next 3 and mix. Mix remaining dry ingredients with whip and add to mixture. Bake at 375 degrees until lightly browned.

BLUE RIBBON FROSTING: Mix 1 pound sifted powdered sugar with 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup white Crisco and 2 teaspoons pure vanilla. Gradually add 1/4 cup scant hot water. Frost cookies when cooled.

I would put some of the frosting in zip lock bags and tint it different colors. Seal up and let your neices mix it by squeezing and rolling the bag. Cut off the tip of the bag and use it to decorate the cookies.Whats a good sugar cookie recipe and easy frosting for little kids?
On the back of a C%26amp;H sugar bag(5#'s) is a recipe for both cookies and frosting that I've been using for years. Easy, my neices can do it( they're 6%26amp;8 ).
Making the actual cookies is so much work! Since you're doing it with little kids, you should just get the pilsbury dough...and concentrate on decorating. That's more fun and you can get so many different kinds of colored icings and sprinkles.

Every year at Christmas, we do the same. We make pillbury sugar cookies. And cut them into all different shapes. Then use the frosting recipe on the back of the Domino powdered sugar box. Its a really simple recipe, yet so much fun for the kids! Make sure you have lots of different colored sprinkles and that gel writing stuff. Also food coloring for the frosting.
Any easy frosting for kids is a cream cheese icing.
